Job Description
Our Macraes Health & Safety team have an exciting opportunity as they search for an Emergency Response Coordinator. If you're calm under pressure, have experience in a similar Emergency Response role, and are keen to start or extend your career across the mining sector, read on!
This will work to manage the Emergency Response arrangements, maintaining and developing the Emergency Response Team, providing training, guidance and facilities in roles and responsibilities and arranging Emergency Response Drills for our Macraes site.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Emergency Management Control Plan
Develop and maintain Emergency Response Documentation Systems, Plans, Procedures, and facilities to reflect changing operational circumstances and best industry practice.
Consult with local and Otago regional officials e.g. police, fire service, ambulance, and other institutions to determine their needs and capabilities in the event an emergency may occur.
Assist in identifying all foreseeable emergencies based on risk assessment of the works undertaken across site.
Maintain and update all resource materials associated with emergency preparedness plans
Training
Recruit and maintain sufficient emergency response personnel to manage a site emergency if needed.
Provide sufficient instruction and training to Emergency Response Teams on the use of firefighting, rescue equipment, breathing apparatus, first aid and casualty recovery equipment.
Develop in-house training and competency assessments for new Emergency Response Team starters and deliver induction package.
Organise off site training sessions designed to further skills of emergency response members
Planning, organising, controlling and leading – available and accessible via INX and in accordance with corporate requirements and NZ standards.
Equipment Maintenance
Develop a maintenance program for all Emergency Response related equipment and ensure all Emergency Response and first aid supplies kept in stock.
Inspect and maintain facilities and equipment such as emergency management training building, emergency response centers and communications equipment to determine their operational and functional capabilities in emergency situations.
Measurement and Evaluation
Develop and test Emergency Response scenarios including but not limited to Building Evacuations, Underground Mine Rescue Operations, Vehicular Extractions, and Processing Plant Emergencies and level 3 evacuations.
Develop and perform tests and evaluations of emergency management plans to ensure site capabilities are maintained to a high standard.
Security
Provide site support and guidance in relation to security management
Ensure Security plans are developed and maintained
Ensure escalation processes are available, and followed in event of a security breach
Identify areas for improvement and manage accordingly
Assist in Security investigations
Qualifications
Diploma or Certificate in Safety Management or equivalent
Adult education level 4/5
Senior First Aid Certificate
Mines Rescue Proficiency
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years in a safety / training / emergency response / security related position within the mining / process industry
Extensive Underground mines rescue experience
Planning, organising and leading skills
A thorough understanding of Health and Safety Management Systems
The ability to interpret and apply the Health & Safety at Work Act 2015
