About the role

We currently have an exciting new vacancy within our team to enable us to reach and support residents of Trafford into employment and training opportunities.

As an Employment Support Officer (ESO), you'll work alongside our existing ESO to deliver a number of job clubs across Trafford to support residents into employment, training, or further support. You’ll be based in the community, working with a wide range of partners and helping people build confidence and gain practical job skills. A key part of the role will be signposting/ referring to the other services they need to overcome barriers and challenges to gaining employment.

This role will form part of the Live Well Economic Inactivity Trailblazer initiative, a targeted programme designed to break down barriers and improve access to employment and training for local residents. As part of this Trailblazer, you will play a key role in shaping innovative approaches to creating economic inclusion across Trafford.

About you

Qualifications and Professional Development

Recognised Level 4 or higher qualification or equivalent and/or GCSE English and Math’s (Grade A-D) or equivalent

Or relevant experience in Information/ guidance / teaching or equivalent

Experience and Knowledge

Experience in employment support and helping people get into work

Knowledge of the main employment support programmes in Greater Manchester and eligibility criteria

Understanding of the barriers and challenges people face in getting into work

Experience of engaging with people who are ‘hard to reach’

Experience of collaborative working with employment partners and a range of community organisations

Knowledge of the local networks and partnerships in Trafford (desirable)

Skills and abilities

Ability to establish good relationships with service users and external partners

Good standard of written and presentation skills

Digital skills competency and confidence in helping others

Self-reliant and ability to work on your own in different community locations

Ability to manage and input into CRM system to record outputs and outcomes
