Full job description

At Oji Fibre Solutions – Forest Resources (Tasman Mill), our manufacturing operation is committed to the efficient and complete use of sustainably sourced virgin wood-fibre from renewable forestry resources. We take pride in producing world-class market kraft pulps, which are used in a wide range of boards and specialty products around the world.

About the role:

We’re seeking an Engineering Drafts Person & Records Coordinator to join our Engineering team in Kawerau. This permanent role plays a critical part in both project development and information management — from supporting project engineers with layout and design conceptualisation, to managing and maintaining the site’s multidisciplinary engineering records and standards.

You’ll bring insight to project scoping and budget development, and be the go-to person for drawings, manuals, and technical data across mechanical, civil, and E&I disciplines.

A typical day will see you:

Supporting Engineering stakeholders with design concepts, layout planning, constraints and options analysis along with the ability to carry-out equipment reverse engineering

Creating and updating at least the 2D drawings using AutoCAD

Managing engineering records, drawing archives, standards, and equipment manuals including BoM, Statutory related documentation, and Underground Services Arc GIS records

Coordinating the isolation database (Intellipermit) and equipment numbering system

Ensuring information is accessible, up-to-date, and compliant with site standards

Liaising with contractors and vendors to ensure drawing standards and deliverables are met

Participating in H&S initiatives and supporting process safety documentation (e.g., HAZOPs)

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring proven experience in engineering draughting (including reverse engineering) with at least strong AutoCAD 2D skills and a solid understanding of multidisciplinary technical drawings and project scopes. You’ll be organised, detail-focused, pragmatic, and proactive, with the ability to conceptualise and support the development of solutions and efficiently manage technical records. Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities are essential. Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, process or civil plant design and experience with engineering data systems and archives are advantageous. A collaborative mindset, along with a commitment to quality and safety, will help you excel in this role.
