Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead, coordinate, and continuously improve engineering and technical operations across the organisation. This role is suited to a commercially minded engineering leader who can balance strategic planning with hands-on technical oversight. The Engineering Manager will ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and quality standards while supporting innovation and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement engineering strategies, policies, and operational plans aligned with organisational objectives.
Lead and coordinate engineering teams across projects, ensuring effective resource allocation and technical governance.
Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to guide construction, production, or system implementation.
Plan, manage, and monitor project schedules, budgets, and deliverables to meet cost, quality, and timeline expectations.
Ensure all engineering activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, Australian Standards, and workplace health and safety requirements.
Establish and maintain engineering quality standards to optimise performance, reliability, and lifecycle costs.
Oversee maintenance strategies and asset management plans to maximise operational efficiency and minimise downtime.
Collaborate with research, product, manufacturing, and commercial teams on engineering inputs for new designs, upgrades, and innovations.
Identify risks, technical constraints, and improvement opportunities, implementing corrective and preventive actions where required.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and performance management for engineering staff and contractors.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and, where applicable, research and development activities.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Industrial, or related discipline).
Demonstrated experience in an engineering management or senior engineering leadership role.
Strong understanding of engineering project management, budgeting, and scheduling principles.
Proven knowledge of Australian engineering standards, regulatory compliance, and safety frameworks.
Ability to interpret complex technical documentation, drawings, and specifications.
Well-developed leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with a focus on operational outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications
Postgraduate qualification in Engineering Management, Project Management, or a related field.
Chartered Engineer (CPEng) status or eligibility for Engineers Australia membership.
Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams across complex projects.
Exposure to research and development or continuous improvement programs.
