About the Team/Service/Location
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you'll work in a supportive and welcoming environment, located in the Child Health Centre on the Whangarei Hospital campus.
The Child Health Centre Clinic provides paediatric outpatient services for children from all over Northland. These include paediatrician, allied health and nurse led clinics. We are dedicated to addressing health inequities for Māori and creating a positive impact on the lives of children.
About the Role
This role provides holistic, whānau-centred nursing care to tamariki and their whanau attending outpatient appointments at the Child Health Centre.
Key responsibilities include:
Clinical Care & Tasks
Perform comprehensive nursing assessments within EN scope, including:
Measuring and recording vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, oxygen saturation)
Growth and development measurements (weight, height, head circumference where appropriate)
Prepare patients and assist with outpatient procedures and clinical reviews
Perform diagnostic and screening tasks, including:
Electrocardiograms (ECGs)
Specimen collection (as appropriate to role and competence)
Administer medications and vaccinations in accordance with legislation and policy
Provide health education and support to tamariki and whānau to promote wellbeing and ongoing care
Maintain accurate, timely documentation in clinical records
Enrolled nurses in Aotearoa New Zealand reflect knowledge, concepts and worldviews of both tangata whenua and tangata tiriti.
Enrolled nurses are accountable and responsible for their nursing practice, ensuring that all health care provided is consistent with their education, assessed competence, relevant legislative requirements, supported by relevant practice standards, and is guided by the Nursing Council of New Zealands standards for enrolled nurses.
This is a permanent full time position; you will be working 40 hours per week between Monday-Sunday on rostered shifts.

About you
Registration as a New Zealand Enrolled Nurse with a current practicing certificate
Understanding of the Enrolled Nurse scope of practice under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act
Knowledge and understanding of the Te Tiriti Waitangi and implications in nursing practice
A positive contributing team player / member
Effective Communication Skills (verbal and written)
Assessment skills
