We’re looking for an Environmental Advisor to join our Environment & Stakeholders team, supporting our hydro, wind and geothermal generation assets across Aotearoa.
This is a varied and influential role where you’ll play a key part in ensuring our operations and development projects meet regulatory requirements, manage environmental risk, and maintain strong, trusted relationships with regulators, iwi and stakeholders. You’ll be empowered to take ownership of your portfolio and make a meaningful impact.
Tāu e mahi ai | What you'll be doing:
Coordinate compliance and monitoring of resource consent conditions across existing and developing generation assets
Provide clear, practical environmental and regulatory advice across operations and projects, including under the Resource Management Act 1991 and relevant planning frameworks
Proactively identify and manage environmental risks through effective systems, processes and engagement
Support consenting strategies and consent acquisition, managing consultants to deliver quality outcomes on time and within budget
Build and maintain strong, constructive relationships with councils, iwi, regulators and internal teams to support successful outcomes
Please note that this role requires the successful candidate to travel across the North & South Island to support our generation assets.
Tā mātou e kimi nei | We are looking for:
A tertiary qualification in Resource Management, Planning, Natural Sciences, Geography or a related field
Demonstrated experience working with RMA processes and resource consent projects (energy or large infrastructure experience advantageous)
A self-led, proactive approach with the confidence to take ownership, prioritise effectively and work independently
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical or regulatory information into clear, practical advice
Strong relationship-building capability and sound judgement when working across diverse stakeholder groups
Knowledge of environmental matters relating to hydro, wind or geothermal assets, familiarity with environmental management systems, and understanding of Te Reo and/or Tikanga Māori will be highly regarded.
