Inspect and assess food businesses, responding to complaints and ensuring compliance through education, guidance, and enforcement.

Manage ******* licensing processes, monitor licensed premises, and contribute to responsible ******* practices across the community.

Engage confidently with business owners, operators, and the public—building relationships, influencing behaviour, and navigating sometimes complex conversations.

Apply legislation and regulatory frameworks to make balanced, well-reasoned decisions that support community wellbeing.

This is a permanent, full time role working 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday. You’ll be based in Napier City Council’s corporate office in the CBD, but much of your work will take you out into the field, inspecting businesses, engaging with the community, and ensuring compliance across the city.

While standard work hours apply, we require flexibility to align with the operating hours of our regulated community, so occasional early starts or later finishes may be required.

The annual salary package for this role is between $91,400-$107,500 (including KiwiSaver), with the final offer depending on your skills and experience.
