Are you passionate about nature and sustainability? Looking for a fulfilling part-time role, 20 hours/3 days (there is some flexibility here for the right person) We're seeking an Enviroschools Co-ordinator to join our dedicated team at the Ngā Tamariki Puāwai o Tāmaki |Auckland Kindergarten Association (AKA)

What You Will Do: As an Enviroschools Coordinator, you'll support Enviroschools Facilitators working with tamariki to protect Te Taiao, our natural world and our interconnections with it. You'll work closely with our kindergartens, guiding them on their sustainability journey.

Enviroschools is a nationwide programme supported by Toimata Foundation, founding partner Te Mauri Tau, and a large network of regional partners. Auckland Kindergarten Association is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to excellent education in 112 kindergartens and centres across Tāmaki Makaurau. Kindergartens and centres that are in the programme commit to a long-term sustainability journey, where tamariki connect with and explore the environment, then plan, design and take, action in their local places in collaboration with their communities.

The Enviroschools kaupapa is about creating a healthy, peaceful, sustainable world through learning and taking, action together.

Every kindergarten is unique, with its own ecology, history, culture and community, so Enviroschools looks different in every setting. The journey of connecting with the place and its people is designed and led by each kindergarten, and ties to the early childhood curriculum Te Whāriki.

Your Responsibilities:

Support Enviroschools facilitators.

Plan and organise meetings, events, and activities

Support kindergartens in their sustainability reflections

Be the main point of contact for participating kindergartens

Report to AKA leadership

Deep understanding of Te Ao Māori principles and practices.

Who We Are Looking For:

Preferably someone who has ECE teaching experience with an understanding of the Enviroschools kaupapa

A nature lover who is committed to kaitiakitanga and sustainability.

A great communicator with a positive and collaborative mindset.

Strong organisational skills.

Understands the significance of the Tiriti o Waitangi and has experience incorporating matauranga Māori into their work.
