Privately held, fast-growing, well established, busy and profitable aerial lift re-rental & repair company has career opportunities available for two skilled and experienced Equipment Mechanics to repair, restore, and perform preventive maintenance on various pieces of aerial construction equipment. These positions are located at our Birmingham, AL repair facility.
• Are you a self-motivated individual with a high level of technical aptitude, able to diagnose equipment problems?
• Are you a mechanic skilled at troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining aerial construction equipment?
• Would you prefer to work less on dirt-moving equipment, and more on boom lifts, telehandlers, and spider lifts?

If this sounds like you, we would like to speak with you about joining our team at our BRAND-NEW REPAIR SHOP LOCATION in Adamsville, AL (15 miles northwest of Birmingham)!

USM ReRents (a division of US Markets, Inc.) is the leader in the re-rental of aerial construction lifts to large equipment rental yards across the United States and Canada. Our equipment includes large boom lifts, heavy-capacity telescoping material handlers, and spider lifts. US Markets is also the exclusive North American distributor of Falcon Spider Lifts.

We continue to grow! Demand for well-working rental equipment spurs our active search for not one, but two (2) shop mechanics to repair and perform preventive maintenance on (USM-owned) boom lifts, telehandlers and spider lifts so that these assets may again be rented out by equipment yards throughout the South Central US.

Role & Responsibilities

Equipment Mechanics diagnose, repair and perform preventative maintenance on articulating booms, ultra booms, spider/crawler lifts, and heavy-capacity & rotational telehandlers so that these assets may quickly be back in rental utilization. You will:
• Perform initial repair inspections and operational tests of equipment
• Perform repairs, service and preventive maintenance as required
• Perform hydraulic, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting; running related diagnostics; rebuilding hydraulic cylinders, replacing worn/damaged parts and fluids
• Create accurate repair lists with assistance of a Service Manager or Fleet Service Specialist
• Perform (ANSI-required) annual inspections

Requirements
• 7+ years' mechanic/repair experience
• 3+ years' (specific) aerial work platform equipment experience (boom lifts, ultra-booms, telehandlers, spider lifts)
• An intermediate-to-advanced level of hydraulics & mechanical & electrical troubleshooting skill; a solid understanding of gas & diesel engines and electric motors
• A valid drivers’ license (and a good driving record)
• A good work ethic and a positive attitude
• A willingness to learn and grow your skills, and to apply technical training concepts to real-world equipment needs
• Demonstrated abilities to be self-organized and dependable
• The ability to work in a safe manner
• A consistency in producing quality workmanship.
• The computer skills to effectively enter & transmit data; to open, read & respond to e-mail.

Preferred Candidates Will Possess
• Construction equipment (or rental) industry experience
• Knowledge of aerial construction equipment, their application and safe use
• Previous factory/manufacturer training and/or certification (from JLG, Genie, SkyJack, etc.)
• Communication skills – the ability to positively interact with co-workers, and to update and partner with your Fleet Service Manager
• A commercial driver’s license is helpful

You will be required to complete online training where available. You will receive parts orders, assist with inventory, and help organize the shop and parts and tools. You may assist with the purchasing of parts and with creating related purchase orders.
