DESCRIPTION:

As an Estimator at WDF Job Order Contracting Department, reporting to the Vice President of JOC, you will have the opportunity to:

Provide and/or coordinate full estimating services to develop estimates for GC, Mechanical, Plumbing Job Order Contracts and Requirements Contracts with various public agencies.

Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate

Both self-perform and/or direct others in quantity take-off for unit price bidding schedules, summarizing in an excel spreadsheet and E-Gordian format.

Analyze various scopes of work and produce comprehensive unit price estimates by creating production crews and including specific equipment and materials in a E-Gordian cost software program.

Provide technical support to personnel preparing discipline estimates for assigned bids

Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to back-up estimate figures

Assist Operations during preparation of inquiries and final evaluation of submitted bids as required

Track awarded contracts as required - may include estimating/pricing extra work items, change orders and credits

Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited institution.

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating, with at least 2 years in Job Order Contracting (JOC).

Experience with Job Order Contracting (JOC) or Unit Price projects for NYC public sector agencies

Strong knowledge of RSMeans or similar unit price cost estimating software.

Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and building codes.

Proven experience on construction projects within the NYC Metro area and familiarity with public NYC agencies with various trades

Background working on small to mid-sized contracts focused on smaller-scale construction, renovations, or tenant improvement projects

Extensive experience in the construction industry, particularly in the public sector with various trades

Proficiency in estimating software and strong computer skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Good communication skills to effectively solicit and work with individual project owner’s representatives, material suppliers and subcontractors in pre-bid estimate preparations and post-bid negotiations.

Capable of effectively working within JOC estimating staff to facilitate comprehensive cost proposals
