Estimator

💰 $4,200 - $6,720 (Est.) 📍 Melbourne 🕐 3 days ago

Job Description

Full job description
Shape the projects before they even hit site.
Great spaces don’t build themselves - they’re priced, planned and won by people who know how to see the detail others miss.
At Unita, our Estimators are at the front end of everything we deliver. You’re not just pricing projects - you’re influencing how they’re built, who builds them and how successfully they land.

With a strong pipeline of retail, hospitality and health projects across Victoria, this is your opportunity to step into a role where your thinking, commercial insight and attention to detail genuinely make an impact.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Managing tenders end-to-end - from kick-off through to submission
Reviewing drawings, specifications and documentation to fully understand scope
Preparing detailed take-offs and cost plans across all trade packages
Building and managing strong subcontractor and supplier relationships
Issuing and assessing tender packages, including scopes, clarifications and exclusions
Identifying risks, gaps and opportunities within tender documentation
Collaborating with preconstruction, design and delivery teams to ensure buildability
Preparing clear, detailed and competitive tender submissions
Supporting post-tender negotiations, clarifications and project handover
Contributing to continuous improvement in how we estimate and win work
What Great Looks Like

Tenders are accurate, competitive and set projects up for success from day one
Risks, gaps and buildability challenges are identified early - not on site
Trade coverage is strong, aligned and reliable across every package
Tender submissions are clear, detailed and professionally presented
Stakeholders trust your numbers, your thinking and your judgement
You stay ahead of timelines, driving tenders forward without chasing
Projects are won with confidence - not guesswork
What You’ll Bring

3+ years’ experience as an Estimator (ideally in fit-out or commercial projects)
Experience pricing projects from $200k to $2M+
Strong knowledge of construction methodologies and cost drivers
Experience using tools like CostX, Bluebeam or similar
A sharp eye for detail with the ability to spot risks others miss
Strong communication skills - you can hold your own with trades, clients and internal teams
A proactive mindset - you don’t wait to be told, you drive things forward
Why Unita

We’re a national design & construct team delivering end-to-end solutions across retail, hospitality, workplace and health — with a reputation for doing things properly and doing them well.
