Details: WorkSafe ACT is a fully independent office headed by the WHS Commissioner. WorkSafe ACT achieves its objectives through a combination of compliance and enforcement, awareness raising, education, inspection, and investigation. It is responsible for monitoring and enforcing compliance by duty holders in accordance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (WHS Act) and associated legislation including dangerous substances, workers’ compensation, and Labour Hire Licensing.
We have an exciting temporary vacancy for a suitably skilled professional to backfill the role of Events and Communications Officer. In this role, you will be part of a team responsible for supporting the Agency by delivering well‑coordinated events and developing engaging content across internal and external platforms that actively promote the work of WorkSafe ACT.
In this role, you will:
deliver clear and timely messages to a range of audiences and support media engagement activities
assist with maintaining WorkSafe ACT’s website content and supporting internal communications and stakeholder communications
manage events, social media and communication campaigns
play a key role in coordinating general engagement activities across the organisation

Eligibility/ Other Requirements:
Experience in event management.
Relevant qualifications or experience in administrative and/or communications roles.
Knowledge of work health and safety legislation and arrangements in the ACT.
Note: This is a temporary position available 21 April 2026 until 12 November 2026 with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency. A Merit Pool may be established from this selection process and may be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on referee reports and written application only. This position has moved to a workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers do not have a designated workstation/desk.
