Yoga Kawa is a Toronto-based wellness company known for its unique animal-assisted yoga experiences, including puppy yoga, kitten yoga, bunny yoga, and corporate wellness events. Our programs combine mindfulness, movement, and joyful interaction with animals to create memorable and meaningful experiences for participants.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Event Assistant to support our Event Managers in delivering well-organized events while also capturing high-quality photo and video content during classes and special events.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys live event environments, social media content creation, and working with animals and people in a wellness setting.
Role Overview
The Event Assistant supports the Event Manager in executing smooth, organized events while helping document the experience through photography and short-form video content.
This role helps ensure guests feel welcomed, events run smoothly, and Yoga Kawa’s experiences are captured visually for marketing and social media.
Key Responsibilities
Event Support
Assist Event Managers with event setup, participant check-in, and guest flow
Support instructors, animal handlers, and event staff during classes
Help ensure events run according to schedule
Assist in maintaining a welcoming and organized environment
Content Creation
Capture high-quality photos and short videos during events
Document guest experiences, animal interactions, and memorable moments
Help gather content for Yoga Kawa’s social media and marketing channels
Ensure participants are comfortable and respectful of privacy guidelines when filming
Guest Experience
Welcome participants and help create a warm, inclusive environment
Assist guests who may be unfamiliar with yoga or animal-assisted events
Support the Event Manager in managing minor guest questions or concerns
Animal Event Support
Help guide safe and respectful interaction between participants and animals
Prevent overcrowding around animals during photo moments
Support animal handlers in maintaining safe interaction environments
Event Cleanup & Organization
Assist with cleaning animal or pet accidents and maintaining high standards of sanitation
Support disinfection and equipment organization after events
Help ensure the venue is left clean and orderly
Because Yoga Kawa events involve live animals, animal accidents such as urine or feces can occur during events. Event Managers must be extremely comfortable assisting with the cleanup and sanitation of these situations as part of maintaining a safe and hygienic event environment.
Personal protective equipment (PPE) and sanitation supplies are provided, and Event Managers are expected to follow Yoga Kawa’s cleaning and biosecurity procedures.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
Experience in event coordination, hospitality, or customer-facing roles
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent time management and ability to prioritize tasks
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to remain calm and professional in dynamic environments
Extremely comfortable working around animals and participants of all ages
Exceptionally clean, with a strong respect for sanitation and hygiene standards
Strong situational awareness and problem-solving ability
Experience in wellness studios, hospitality, corporate events, or community programming is considered an asset.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
Ability to be on your feet for up to 5 hours during events
Additional Requirements
Preference will be given to candidates with reliable transportation, as events take place across the Greater Toronto Area.
Candidates should also be able to:
Work evenings, holidays and weekends depending on event schedules
Arrive early to assist with event preparation and setup

Compensation
This position is offered on an independent contractor basis, with compensation based on event assignments and experience.

Because Yoga Kawa events involve live animals, staff must be EXTREMELY comfortable working in environments where animal accidents, waste cleanup, and sanitation tasks are part of normal event operations. Event Assistants are expected to assist with maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards as part of their operational responsibilities.
Cleaning supplies, sanitation equipment, and appropriate protective equipment (PPE) are provided.
