Duration: 8 weeks (35 hours per week) Compensation: $17.60/hour

Position Overview
The Event Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the planning, execution, and follow-up of events hosted by the Black Innovation Zone. This role is ideal for a motivated, detail-oriented individual who thrives in fast-paced environments and is passionate about community engagement and youth development. This person will report to the BIZ Executive Team, made up of a rep from the Federation of Black Canadians, Nobellum, and Black Founders network and or a BIZ lead designate. This is an exciting opportunity for an organized and self-motivated individual passionate about event planning, innovation, and community impact.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Event Planning
Assist in coordinating logistics for upcoming events (venues, vendors, supplies, permits)
Support outreach to partners, sponsors, and participants
Help develop event timelines, run-of-show documents, and checklists
Contribute to promotional efforts, including social media and community outreach
On-Site Event Execution
Support set-up and tear-down of event spaces
Assist with registration, guest management, and coordination of event flow
Liaise with vendors, volunteers, and team members to ensure smooth operations
Troubleshoot and respond to real-time event needs
Post-Event Support
Assist with post-event evaluations and reporting
Gather feedback from attendees, partners, and team members
Support follow-up communications with stakeholders
Help organize and document event outcomes and learnings
Administration Supports
Support keeping Event logistics/emails/ and updates organized and filed
Providing regular updates at weekly check-in calls
Keeping the BIZ mainframe updated to date and organized
Replying to emails and chat messages in a timely manner
Qualifications & Requirements
Canada Summer Jobs Federal Program requirements: Canadian Citizen or permanent residence and or refugee status with a valid SIN #
Willingness and ability to travel within the Greater Toronto Area (MTL maybe)
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Comfortable working in fast-paced, dynamic environments
Experience or interest in event planning, community engagement, or nonprofit work is an asset
Alignment with the mission and values of the Black Innovation Zone
Willing to be present at in-person events planned as the BIZ lead/rep
Preferred Skills
Experience with event coordination or logistics
Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability
Familiarity with social media and event promotion
Professional and positive attitude when interacting with stakeholders
Google Suite (Drive, Chat, Sheets, Doc)
Asana or any other Task Management platform
