Title: Event manager
Job Description: We are looking for an individual who feels confident managing large scale events. You will be meeting with our clients on a regular basis, taking time to understand their preferences, and coordinating everything from menus, supplies, and decor to logistics and invoice payments.
Meet with clients to learn about their preferences and present options.
Help clients design, plan, and procure vendors, services, and décor with budget and client specifications.
Organize the event from start to finish, including location, guest lists, décor, entertainment, catering, hotel accommodations, and transportation.
Keep clients informed and up to date with planning progress.
Create a detailed itinerary for the bride, groom, and wedding party to follow during the event and guide them through it.
Track current wedding trends so you can make recommendations that will enhance the client’s experience.
Train and manage staff leading up to, during, and after the event.
Track of all wedding expenses and payments.
Troubleshoot unforeseen stopgaps or obstacles to keep things moving along and on schedule.
Communicate with third-party vendors to secure dates, requirements, payment, and invoicing.
Ensure the event follows all relevant health and safety regulations.
Qualifications and pertinent skills:
Exceptional attention to detail, creativity, and communication skills.
Ability to manage several events and schedules at one time.
Comfortable giving direction and being flexible with changing requirements.
Impeccable finance, time-management, and negotiation skills.
Provide excellent customer service.
Remain calm in stressful situations.
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in hospitality or similar field preferred but not required.
5 years’ experience as a wedding planner, event coordinator, or similar role in the hospitality industry.
Certification through the American Association of Certified Wedding Planners is not required but is a plus.
Starting Rate: $18 per Hour with the opportunity for upward advancement
Benefits: We do not currently offer health benefits
Schedule: Since we work almost every Saturday, we have a fairly flexible weekday schedule, and you can work as much or as little as you like while still getting all your work done. Most of us work from around 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on weekdays, and some of us only work 3-4 days during the week, so if you were interested in stacking this job with another, it is definitely possible. Wedding days are generally 12 - 15 hour days, and are where we get the majority of our hours.
