Events Manager

Reports to Events Director

Word on Fire Catholic Ministries is a nonprofit global media apostolate that supports the work of Bishop Robert Barron and reaches millions of people to draw them into—or back to—the Catholic faith.

The Events Manager designs live brand experiences that bring the identity and mission of Word on Fire to life to inspire action amongst the religiously unaffiliated, faithful Catholics, and donors. The Events Manager serves as a member of the event team responsible for the execution of all events for the ministry. The Events Manager works closely with internal business partners and 3rd party vendors, partnering to ensure successful event execution.

Responsibilities

Deliver best-in-class, mission-driven live events/experiences and activation for the ministry

Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand key business strategies, value propositions, and products, to bring key messaging alive through creative mediumsIncluding but not limited to: video, design, story telling through onsite branding, etc.

Lead the end-to-end production of an event from conception to delivery to post-event analysis; including but not limited to: vendor negotiations, logistics organization, food & beverage, etc.

Manage the full project life cycle of events from ideation and planning through execution and review; including: developing, managing and maintaining overall project plans, timelines, run of show, budget development, tracking and reconciliation

Develop event budgets, track expenses, and negotiate with vendors to ensure events are delivered within budget

Maintain prompt and professional cross-functional communication and proactive issue resolution to ensure seamless execution of all events

Identify and manage potential event risks and develop contingency plans, while maintaining compliance with legal, insurance, health and safety requirements at all events

Evaluate event success and recommend improvements for future events

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in event management, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience

5 years of experience in event management/production

Demonstrates excellent problem solving skills and critical thinking, with a focus on proactiveness and strong attention to detail

Strong project management and organizational skills

Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Adept with basic computer skills such as: Google Docs, PowerPoint, Sheets or Excel, and email

Willingness to work occasional flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required

Travel requirement approximately 1-2 times per quarter

Basic accounting skills to track spending and effectively manage a budget

Commitment to the mission of Word on Fire

Preferred Qualifications

Effective in providing exceptional hospitality

Networking skills to build relationships with vendors and suppliers

Experience working in an event agency

Knowledge of risk management to identify potential legal liabilities and take steps to mitigate them

Familiarity with the work of Bishop Robert Barron and Word on Fire

Compensation and Benefits

The estimated base pay range for this position is $71,000 - $90,000 annually. Word on Fire determines individual compensation on several factors, including but not limited to, experience, skills, alignment with the role’s responsibilities, and geographic location. This role may be eligible for annual merit increases based on individual performance.
