Job Title: Florist
• Job Description:
As a Florist, you are responsible for creating beautiful floral arrangements and providing exceptional customer service to clients for various occasions, including weddings, special events, holidays, and everyday celebrations. Your role combines artistic creativity, floral design expertise, and customer relations skills to deliver personalized floral experiences that exceed client expectations. Your responsibilities include:
- Client Consultation: Meet with clients to discuss their floral needs, preferences, and budget for weddings, events, or special occasions. Provide personalized recommendations, suggest floral options, and offer design ideas to match the client's vision and style.
- Flower Sourcing and Selection: Source high-quality flowers, plants, and foliage from local growers, wholesalers, and suppliers. Inspect flowers for freshness, quality, and condition, selecting the best blooms for arrangements based on color, size, shape, and longevity.
- Floral Preparation and Care: Process and condition flowers upon arrival, including cutting stems, removing foliage, hydrating blooms, and conditioning flowers to ensure freshness and longevity. Store flowers in appropriate temperature-controlled environments to preserve their beauty and vitality.
- Arrangement Assembly: Arrange flowers and foliage in vases, containers, or floral foam to create finished arrangements. Use techniques such as wiring, taping, and clustering to shape and secure flowers into desired compositions, incorporating design elements such as line, form, and focal points.
- Event Setup and Installation: Deliver and install floral arrangements at event venues, ensuring timely setup, proper placement, and attention to detail. Coordinate with event planners, venue staff, and other vendors to integrate floral designs seamlessly into event decor and ambiance.
- Customer Service: Provide attentive and personalized service to clients, addressing inquiries, offering guidance, and accommodating special requests. Maintain open communication with clients throughout the design process, providing updates, revisions, and final approvals as needed.
- Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels of flowers, supplies, containers, and accessories to meet demand and minimize waste. Monitor stock levels, track usage, and reorder supplies as needed to ensure adequate inventory for upcoming projects and events.
- Workspace Organization and Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace, including floral design studio, storage areas, and refrigeration units. Clean work surfaces, tools, and equipment regularly to ensure hygiene, safety, and compliance with health regulations.
- Pricing and Billing: Calculate pricing for floral arrangements based on flower costs, labor, design complexity, and overhead expenses. Prepare quotes, estimates, and invoices for clients, clearly outlining pricing details, payment terms, and any additional charges.
- Professional Development: Stay informed about floral design trends, techniques, and industry developments through continuing education, workshops, and networking opportunities. Pursue certifications or credentials in floral design to enhance skills and credentials.
Qualifications:
- Formal training or certification in floral design, horticulture, or a related field is preferred but not required. Hands-on experience and a passion for flowers and floral design are essential.
- Proficiency in floral design techniques, including color theory, flower selection, arrangement styles, and design principles.
- Creativity, artistic talent, and an eye for detail, with the ability to create visually stunning floral arrangements that evoke emotion and capture the essence of special occasions.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and vendors, building rapport and trust to foster long-term relationships.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Customer service orientation, with a genuine desire to exceed client expectations and create memorable experiences through floral design.
- Knowledge of flower varieties, seasonal availability, care and handling techniques, and industry best practices for flower sourcing, procurement, and preservation.
- Business acumen, including sales, marketing, and basic accounting principles, with the ability to price products competitively, negotiate contracts, and manage finances effectively.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy containers, arrange flowers for extended periods, and work in a dynamic, hands-on environment.
