The Team:
The Royal Hobart Hospital is the tertiary referral hospital in Tasmania. The hospital provides all general and specialty medical and surgical services as well as paediatrics, obstetrics and psychiatry. It is also the state’s tertiary trauma centre.
The Emergency Department (ED) provides a tertiary level service for people with illness or injury 24 hours a day 7 days per week.
The RHH Emergency Department has a co-located Emergency Medical Unit (EMU) which is a short stay ward for patients requiring a brief hospital stay (generally less than 24 hours). The EMU has 24 short-stay beds operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with a high turnover ward environment and a variety of clinical presentations.
The Role:
Working closely with the Nurse Unit Manager to manage the staffing and financial resources of the emergency department.
You will need:
Well-developed ability to work individually, and as a member of a team and a proven ability to be adaptable and flexible to achieve the best results in an environment of change, ambiguity and pressure.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the provision of a sensitive and confidential business support service, with highly developed interpersonal skills including communication, written, liaison and negotiation skills.
Experience with computer systems in a health care environment.
Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, sensitivity and discretion, including the ability to interpret and analyse information and recommend or decide on appropriate action within a senior management environment.
Proven understanding of the dynamics of a multidisciplinary team operating in an Emergency Department or hospital-based environment, or the ability to quickly acquire same.

Details of appointment:
Permanent, part time, day worker position, working up to 30.4 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Salary: $73,811 to $7+,77+ per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2026
