About the role
The executive will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and maintaining efficient document management within the legal and compliance department. This position will act as the Global Data Protection Officer, reporting to the Director - Legal & Compliance, and will have a dotted line reporting to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and CEO for data protection-related responsibilities. Additionally, this role will encompass paralegal duties, including document execution and task management. Responsibilities (not exhaustive)
Global Data Protection Officer :
• Act as the primary point of contact for data protection matters across the organization.
• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable laws in the countries of operation.
• Develop and implement data protection policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Conduct privacy impact assessments and ensure data protection measures are in place.
• Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to address data protection concerns and incidents.
• Provide advice and guidance on data protection issues to internal teams and external partners.
Paralegal and Documentation :
• Manage the repository of legal and compliance department documents, ensuring proper organization and accessibility.
• Coordinate the execution process of agreements, contracts, and legal documents.
• Assist in legal research, drafting, and review of legal documents, as required.
• Support the legal and compliance department in maintaining task management and tracking systems.
• Help ensure compliance with corporate governance and legal requirements.
• Assist in maintaining legal templates and precedents.
Reporting and Collaboration:
• Report directly to the Director - Legal and Compliance for daily operations and task assignments.
• Collaborate with the CISO and CEO on data protection matters and initiatives.
• Participate in cross-functional teams to address data protection risks and improve compliance processes.
• Assist in preparing reports and presentations related to data protection and legal matters for management and relevant stakeholders.
The ideal Candidate
• Bachelor's degree in law, information technology, or a related field. A legal background is preferred.
• 4 to 6 yrs of work experience in Data Protection and Data privacy Domain
• Strong understanding of data protection regulations, such as GDPR, CCPA, etc.
• Familiarity with document management systems and legal research tools.
• Excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
