Full time, continuing position. Located at the School of Physics on the Camperdown Campus

Base Salary $ 126,065 - $ 142,171 p.a. (HEO8) + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

Working in a large complex school, the Executive Officer provides strategic advice and operational support to the School Manager and Head of School on the general management and delivery of core research, academic and education services to achieve the School mission and objectives.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

initiate and manage the implementation of operational plans and policy

ensure compliance with University research, student, ethics and external legislative/regulatory policies and procedures

provide effective general management of operational and administrative systems, processes and programs to meet these requirements in alignment with University research, education, internal school communications, and legislative/regulatory requirements

ensure a safe working environment for all staff and students.

About you

a postgraduate qualification in business administration or related field with relevant experience in business administration and/or equivalent combination of relevant training and experience

demonstrated experience in the supervision, training, mentoring and performance management of staff; and experience managing and resolving a diverse range of HR issues

the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work

excellent negotiation, conflict resolution, relationship building and influencing skills together with high level of tact, diplomacy and discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality

demonstrated ability to translate and implement strategic changes into local operational practices that enhance the work area’s administrative function

excellent time and workload management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise effectively, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and achieve required outcomes.
