What you will do

The Executive Officer to Head of Agency is responsible for:

providing strategic and trusted advice to the Head of Agency, and the Agency’s Senior Executive team, on a broad range of areas, including, but not limited to:

effective operational and administrative systems

internal and external stakeholder engagements and opportunities

complex issues and emerging risks that may impact on the Agency’s reputation and operations

opportunities and initiatives to advance the Agency’s strategic priorities in alignment with the Agency’s Business Plan

maintain detailed knowledge of the Agency’s Business Plan and strategic priorities, as well as emerging issues and priorities impacting on the Agency’s work to support the Head of Agency and enable effective strategic decision making.

Prepare and organise complex, quality assured and well-researched correspondence, briefings, presentations, papers and other corporate, ministerial and parliamentary documents to and on behalf of the Head of Agency, including and in relation to confidential and sensitive matters.

triage the information flow into the Head of Agency, including coordinating requests, responding to correspondence, and making related decisions on behalf of the Head of Agency.

build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including as a representative of the Head of Agency, with:

senior departmental executive

ministerial advisers across governments

c-suite CEOs

senior executive across government and international agencies

consult and negotiate in relation to relevant issues on behalf of the Head of Agency.

support the Head of Agency’s international travel and related engagements, including project management of travel plans, logistics and briefings.

oversee the Office of the Head of Agency, including all executive support functions and team management.

oversee the secretariat management of the Australian Space Agency Advisory Board, including upholding best practice governance processes.

represent the Head of Agency and the Office of the Head of Agency in a professional, respectful and courteous manner.

other tasks and projects as directed by the Head of Agency.

Eligibility

To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens.

Positions require a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
