The Adelaide Park Lands Association (APA) is a grass-roots non-profit community organisation with activities under each of the headings: “Explore”, “Inspire”, “Protect” and “Restore”.

The Association’s activities require many dedicated volunteers. Due to rapidly-growing community interest, professional help is required from an Executive Officer whose main duties would be to manage the volunteer team, while continuing to recruit more assistance.

The successful applicant will manage an advertising budget to attract and recruit volunteers, conduct initial screening of applicants, and refer suitable candidates to APA Board members for training, when required.

The position will report monthly to the APA managing Committee/Board.

EXPERIENCE / SKILLS

The successful applicant will have:

previous experience in recruiting and managing volunteers;

excellent inter-personal and networking skills;

familiarity with digital advertising and social media;

capacity to learn and understand the range of roles for which volunteers are required;

excellent time-management skills; and

capacity to manage competing priorities.

The successful applicant must be able to work from home but travel, when necessary, to meet volunteers. Working hours are flexible but the role is envisaged as equivalent to 0.5 FTE.

A contract will be negotiated with the successful applicant but remuneration is expected to be in the range $22k to $30k p.a. The position will be offered as an initial 12-month contract. The possibility of extension will be considered by the APA Board in late 2025.

CONTRACT JOB DESCRIPTION

The Executive officer / volunteer manager-recruiter will be committed to the Objectives of the Adelaide Park Lands Association; and will be responsible for:

RECRUITING

Manage an assigned budget for advertising volunteer opportunities;

Choose and place advertising in optimum positions to attract quality volunteers;

Respond promptly to volunteer inquiries;

Assist each potential volunteer to identify the most appropriate volunteer role matching their skills/interests;

Refer suitable volunteer candidates to APA Board members for training (if required);

MANAGING

Maintain regular contact with all members of the volunteer team;

Identify volunteers who may need additional training or assistance to complete tasks;

Seek help from APA Board members to provide such training, when necessary;

Report monthly to the APA managing committee/board.
