Job description
We are currently looking for a Lab Technician for our client, a fast-growing, innovative company specializing in the development and production of next-generation lithium-sulfur batteries. The successful candidate will conduct experiments, prepare samples, operate lab equipment, analyse data, and support the wider team.
The Lab Technician will:
• Support the development of advanced battery materials through lab-based research.
• Design and carry out experiments aligned with technical objectives.
• Perform testing and analyse data to evaluate material performance.
• Present findings clearly to internal stakeholders and project teams.
• Maintain and update SOPs to ensure safe and consistent lab practices.
The Lab Technician will have:
• Degree in Materials Science/Chemistry or, Engineering
• Some level of experience working in a Research Lab environment
• Excellent communication and organisation skills.
• A desire to learn a broad range of skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, for data analysis, documentation, and reporting.

Laboratory Technician – Full-Time
Location: Baker Street, London
Hours: 5 days a week (including weekends)
Contract: 12-Month Fixed Term (3-Month Probation), renewable annually. Role may become permanent after 2 years of continuous service.
Marylebone Diagnostic Centre is a private healthcare provider offering fast and reliable diagnostic services to both UK-based and international clients. We are a growing, innovative team committed to delivering high-quality, patient-focused diagnostics from our in-house laboratory in central London.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Technician to support our busy diagnostics team. You will be responsible for:
• Performing blood tests, drug screening, and infectious disease testing
• Biochemistry and haematology analysis
• Carrying out administrative tasks such as data entry, reporting, and filing
• Stock control and record-keeping to ensure supplies are available and organised
• Maintaining lab equipment, quality control, and assisting with daily operations
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with strong technical ability and a proactive, team-oriented attitude.
Requirements
• BSc or MSc in Biomedical Science
• Minimum 2-5 years’ experience in a medical or pathology laboratory
• Competence using haematology, biochemistry analysers, PCR, immunochemistry systems, and microscopes
• Excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills
• Weekend availability is required (this role includes regular weekend shifts)
• Applicants must be based in the UK – overseas applications will not be considered
Key Responsibilities
• Perform routine testing of blood, drug, and infection samples
• Maintain and troubleshoot analysers, following SOPs and health & safety guidelines
• Monitor internal and external quality control, taking corrective action where necessary
• Keep accurate records of test results, reagents, and supply levels
• Input data into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
• Communicate critical or abnormal results promptly to clinical staff
• Provide general administrative support as needed
