Department Summary
The College of Arts &
Sciences (CAS) is a large and complex college that offers the core
liberal arts and sciences curriculum at the University of Oregon.
Most undergraduates at UO pursue a degree in one of the College's
40+ undergraduate degree programs. CAS also has 30+ doctoral
programs that produce approximately 75% of the PhDs at the
University of Oregon. CAS is home to approximately 750 faculty,
over 1000 graduate employees, and 200 administrative employees. CAS
has annual budgeted operations expenditures of approximately $156
million and utilizes slightly more than half a million square feet
of space spread over 50 separate buildings both on and
off-campus.

The Dean's Office provides leadership to carry out the academic
mission of the College and University. In service to this mission,
CAS promotes and sustains the highest standards in teaching,
research and services; fosters and advocates for faculty; promotes
a respectful work environment; supports and coordinates matters
that pertain to faculty and academics; and supports staff in their
professional growth and development.

Position Summary
The Experiential Learning Manager
will build and market a network of on campus internship, community
engagement, and research offerings which give students exposure to
the broadest applied experiences at UO. They will develop an
external portfolio of experiential learning opportunities for
undergraduate students in the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS).
This would include any on or off campus experiential learning
opportunity, including opportunities in research, industry,
nonprofits, etc. In addition, this position will create and manage
equitable process and policies around scholarships for experiential
learning, as well as developing procedures for undergraduate
placements.

The Experiential Learning Manager will provide curriculum
development for a pre-internship course that tracks student
learning through student reflection assignments. The course will
create a professional skills curriculum to bridge students'
classroom pedagogy with these applied experiences to help them make
the most of these opportunities.

The Experiential Learning Manager will collaborate will campus
partners, such as University advisors, Career Center, and students.
The position responds to a broad range of inquiries and requests
from a variety of constituents. The position reports to the
Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education but works independently
under minimal supervision. This position will work closely with
experiential learning coordinators currently embedded in CAS
departments to streamline and support their discipline specific
efforts.

Minimum Requirements
• Three years experience working in student services, advising,
career coaching, project coordination, or in a related field.
• Master's degree.

In exceptional circumstances, a Bachelor's degree plus two
additional years of experience working in student services,
advising, career coaching, project coordination, or a related field
can substitute.
