As External Engagement Specialist, your primary function is being responsible for coordinating, tracking, and facilitating Legal Aid BC’s (LABC) relationships and interactions with diverse interested party collaborators (IPCs and/or stakeholders). This includes supporting the development and maintenance of strong, positive relationships with external agencies and government partners, coordinating and tracking outreach activities, identifying and leveraging collaborative opportunities, and enhancing the organization’s reputation and influence externally. This role also makes recommendations regarding LABCs strategic external engagement approach.
Key accountabilities include, but aren't limited to:
Identify new opportunities for partnerships and external collaborations.
Assist the organization to build and maintain relationships with external IPCs, including rural/remote partners, Indigenous communities, service providers, government agencies, and/or legal organizations using the Internal Client Relationship Management (CRM) system and additional internal tracking mechanisms.
Assist other LABC staff and/or departments to build and maintain relationships with external IPCs.
Support the development of partnerships with agencies and service providers that act as intermediaries between clients and communities that would benefit from improved access to legal aid and external outreach (including Indigenous communities and others that have significant barriers to legal and other social services).
Ensure compliance with organization policies and external regulations.
Perform other related Communications Department duties, as assigned.

The Ideal Candidate
You have Undergraduate degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, and/or related discipline. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Understanding of the Canadian legal system with strong foundational knowledge of procedures related to criminal, immigration, child protection and family law. Minimum three years’ relevant experience in external relations, public engagement, communication roles OR an equivalent combination of training, education and experience may be considered. You strive to exceed expectations and are a team player.
