Fabrication Shop Helper
Ideal Vacuum is in need of a shop helper to support our welding and fabrication operations. A successful shop helper has strong skills in operating shop equipment, handling materials, and assisting with general shop upkeep tasks.
Responsibilities
Follow verbal and written instructions, cooperate with team members, and possess strong focus to stay productive. Methodical work and attention to detail are valuable assets in our team. After completing OJT (on-job training) and a probationary period, a shop helper at Ideal Vacuum is:
• Attentive to work area cleanliness and organization
• Concerned with work accuracy and attention to detail
• Supporting welding team to increase production speed
• Capable of independently operating shop fabrication equipment in a safe manner
Education/Knowledge
• High school diploma or equivalent desired
• Experience with metalworking equipment such as sanders, grinders, and saws
• Welding and fabrication experience appreciated but not required
• Forklift license/certification preferred
• Proficient in computer useage
Job Tasks
This position primarily involves supporting the weld and fabrication team. The following tasks are common work activities for a metalworking shop hand at Ideal Vacuum:
• Plate Finishing/Polishing
• Electrochemical weld cleaning/passivation
• Power/hand tool operation
• Band saw and circular saw operation
• Manipulating heavy workpieces
• Operating ultrasonic part washers
Pay & Benefits
• Hourly Wage $23-25 per hour, depending on experience
