Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Collaborate with Schools: Work with partner schools to develop and maintain parent and family engagement strategies. Facilitate parent and family workgroups to engage them as essential stakeholders in school improvement efforts.
• Engage Families: Conduct ongoing outreach and discussions with families to ensure that their voices are heard and they actively contribute to the school's continuous improvement.
• Coordinate Programs: Organize activities and programs that enhance parent and student involvement, including offering adult education services and valuable volunteer opportunities.
• Lead Workshops: Present workshops that empower parents’ sense of belonging, decision-making abilities, advocacy skills, and leadership development.
• Build Partnerships: Strengthen family-school connections by collaborating with stakeholders to create a comprehensive family engagement plan that effectively coordinates resources at each school site.
• Support Parent Centers: Partner with school staff to develop inclusive, collaborative, and relationship-focused parent centers.
• Cross-Collaborate: Work with other teams to address the academic, social-emotional, and wellness needs of families. Facilitate effective collaboration between schools and staff.
• Evaluate Programs: Participate in the collection and analysis of data to assess program effectiveness and progress toward school goals.
• Develop Transition Programs: Partner with families and community organizations to establish transition programs that support students’ social-emotional adjustment and academic readiness for middle school.
• Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned to effectively support the responsibilities of the role.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities)
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in program development within a school setting, focusing on student success through family engagement, leadership development, and advocacy, along with at least 2 years of experience in a K-12 school district.
• Community Engagement: At least 2 years of experience mobilizing groups, building partnerships, and utilizing community resources effectively.
• Skills: Strong relationship-building, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to facilitate collaboration among diverse teams and work effectively with students and families from various backgrounds.
• Group Facilitation: Proven ability in managing teams, understanding group dynamics, and building consensus.
• Cultural Awareness: Knowledge of issues related to race, equity, and racial justice in education, with the ability to navigate and promote sensitivity in these matters.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills that enable engagement with a diverse range of audiences clearly and concisely.
