Position Title: Family Engagement Liaison - Chinese
Employee Type: Seasonal, 40 hours per week
Schedule: Monday through Friday
Pay: $29.31 - $30.78 based on experience.
Location: Various Elementary School sites in San Francisco, CA
JOB DUTIES:
Responsibilities:
Connect with the general Elementary parent/guardian community to build relationships and promote active involvement of families in their child’s education
Outreach to Chinese speaking families to build connections, support needs, and act as a cultural bridge between families and the afterschool program
Work with Program Managers and administrators to connect with Chinese speaking families, supporting two-way communication between families and program staff
Provide resources and support to families in need. Connect families with services and assist with interpretation if needed
Support and outreach to Chinese speaking families to participate in DEC/Richmond Neighborhood Center workshops and events
Manage communication between the general community and monolingual Chinese families, identifying barriers (language, access, scheduling) and help develop solutions
Create and maintain family contact information and communication logs
Facilitate Cantonese/English language workshops and support groups on a quarterly basis
Attend all funder and agency meetings
Meet with the Program Director on a weekly/bi weekly basis for check-ins and planning
Work with the Program Director to create and maintain the program budget
Ensures that monthly attendance and other related data is reported in a timely manner
Maintain accurate records and prepare reports that assist the organization in grant writing and fundraising efforts to support the sustainability and growth of the Family Engagement Initiative
Ensures that monthly narratives and any data reporting are completely in a timely manner for invoicing
Staying informed about best practices, research, and trends in family engagement, sharing knowledge and resources with ES program staff, families, and community partners
Ensures that timesheet is accurate and completed in a timely manner
Maintain strict confidentiality of student and family information
All other duties as assigned
Must Haves:
1 year experience working in community outreach
Some college experience, but a degree is not required
Fluency in English and Chinese are required
First Aid/CPR Certified desired
SFUSD parent preferred
Strong community outreach and problem-solving experience
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Experience working with families in educational or community settings is desired

Requirements for All Staff:
DOJ Live Scan Fingerprinting: All employees who have contact with youth under the age of 18 must be fingerprinted under procedures established by the DOJ. We cannot employ any individual who has been convicted of a serious or violent felony, as defined by the California Penal Code. The organization also receives updated information from the DOJ during employment. Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records on a case by case basis.
TB Test: Every employee who has regular contact with youth is required to have a current tuberculin skin test or an X-ray examination of the lungs (with a negative result) prior to reporting for duty.
