Job Description
Responsibilities
· Develop a children’s birthday party program exploring the working farm at Gore Place and the history of farming in New England
· Work with staff to market and promote Gore Place as a site for birthday parties and family events
· Work with the Programs Manager to plan and host educational programs on the weekends, including but not limited to crafts programs, Story Time in the Barn, and Saturday Family Time (“Explore and learn with your family at Gore Place. Activities change each week but will include hands-on activities, visits to the farm, learning about our sheep, and more.”)
· Work with Program Manager to plan and host school visits
· Help the Private Event Rentals Manager with set up for weddings, memorial services, bar/bat mitzvahs, and other events
· Assist with special events, including but not limited to special tours of the 1806 Gore Mansion, traditional skills workshops, programs for intellectually curious adults, and development events.
Qualifications
· Ability to remain highly organized while managing disparate tasks
· Customer service experience
· Successfully passing a CORI certification
· One to two years’ experience in event management
· Interest in museum education, K-12 Education, or early childhood development
· Knowledge of museum practices and events in a museum setting
· Effective written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
· An interest in and knowledge of American history, farming, or material culture a plus
· Bachelors degree a plus
Compensation
· Part time, 24 hours a week
· $18-$23 per hour, based on experience

About Gore Place
Gore Place is a 50-acre estate less than 10 miles from downtown Boston. We have a grand Mansion steeped in history, a working farm, and act as an invaluable community resource. Accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, the mission of Gore Place is to preserve and promote the country estate of Christopher and Rebecca Gore as a unique community resource that tells the story of early 1+th century American life.
The Gore Place staff includes 14 full and part-time staff members and is supplemented by seasonal employees, paid docents for weekends and special events, as well as volunteers. With a relatively small staff, teamwork and collaborative planning is important. We offer education programs, farm programs, and tours and talks for adults. Our operations are supported by philanthropic contributions, membership dues, facilities rentals, program revenue, and revenue from our endowment.
