Assistant Fashion Designer Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and driven individual with strong technical skills, a keen eye for trends, and a passion for translating ideas into refined, wearable design. You'll work closely with the founder on everything from concept development to sampling, while gaining exposure to the fast-paced world of modern fashion.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop seasonal concepts, moodboards, and color stories in collaboration with the design team.
• Create and update technical flats, tech packs, and line sheets to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
• Conduct research on trends, fabrics, trims, and silhouettes aligned with brand direction to inform design decisions.
• Assist in fabric sourcing, swatch management, and vendor communication to maintain quality and timelines.
• Participate in fittings, document feedback, and track sample updates to ensure successful product launch.
• Support coordination and styling for lookbooks, campaigns, and photoshoots to showcase brand aesthetic.
• Maintain and organize the design archive, swatches, and visual references to facilitate future projects.
• Collaborate with production and sampling partners to ensure quality, timelines, and budget adherence.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
• 0–2 years of experience in fashion or apparel design, with a degree or diploma in Fashion Design or a related field.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, with basic CAD knowledge a plus.
• Strong illustration and technical sketching ability to communicate design concepts effectively.
• Good understanding of fabrics, construction, and garment finishes to make informed design decisions.
• Highly organized, self-motivated, and proactive individual who can prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Interest in contemporary fashion and design-forward thinking to stay up-to-date with industry trends.
