Job Description
This role involves representing the Association with Congress and other elected officials to achieve federal advocacy goals, including securing new funding for food is medicine research in support of the Association's Health Care by Food initiative.
The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience working in public policy, excellent written and oral communication skills, and demonstrated success in achieving advocacy goals.
Responsibilities:
Lobby Congress and federal agencies to advance the Association's advocacy priorities for food is medicine.
Develop and maintain strong relationships and channels of communication primarily with congressional offices, and as appropriate, executive branch agency staff.
Support the development of fact sheets, briefing memos, talking points, testimony, report language, legislation, and other materials as relevant.
Monitor and analyze relevant legislative issues.
Collaborate with a variety of existing coalitions, organizations, stakeholders, and consultants in support of federal advocacy priorities for food is medicine.
Support efforts to coordinate advocacy efforts across the federal and state level as relevant.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, Public Policy, History, Sociology, or a related field of policy study.
Minimum of five (5) years professional experience working in public policy.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.
Demonstrated success in achieving advocacy goals.
Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and as a team or coalition leader.
Ability to operate with minimal supervision, take initiative, and produce results.
Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
Compensation and Benefits:
Estimated salary: $100,000 - $115,000 per year, depending on experience.
