Job Description
The Field and IT Technician (Business) is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting telecommunications and IT equipment for business customers. This role ensures reliable service delivery, resolves technical issues efficiently, and provides excellent customer support on-site.
Key Responsibilities:
• Install, configure, and maintain business-class services, including internet, voice, and networking equipment
• Perform on-site troubleshooting and repairs for service interruptions or performance issues
• Work with routers, switches, cabling (fiber/coax/Ethernet), and related hardware
• Test and verify proper system functionality after installation or repair
• Read and interpret technical diagrams, service orders, and network designs
• Ensure all work complies with company standards, safety regulations, and local codes
• Educate customers on equipment use and basic troubleshooting
• Document work completed, materials used, and service outcomes accurately
• Coordinate with dispatch, engineering, and support teams as needed
• Conduct site surveys to assess customer locations, identify installation requirements, and determine optimal equipment placement and cabling routes
• Perform cable terminations and cable management for Cat5e/CAT6 Ethernet, RJ45, RJ11, Keystone and Patch panels, ensuring proper signal integrity and adherence to industry code standards
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification preferred)
• 1–2+ years of experience in field service, telecommunications, or IT support
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals (IP addressing, routers, switches)
• Experience with fiber optics, coax, or structured cabling preferred
• Ability to use diagnostic tools and testing equipment
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs
• Comfortable climbing ladders and working at heights
• Ability to work in confined spaces when necessary
Work Environment:
• Field-based role with travel to customer business locations
• May require evenings, weekends, or on-call shifts depending on business needs
