Job Description
The Opportunity
Are you experienced in the field and looking for further progression or ready to step away from the tools? This is perfect if you enjoy being in the field, bring a strong safety mindset, and take pride in doing things properly.
This is a hands-on field assurance role at the sharp end of network safety, quality, and contractor performance.
As Field Assurance Advisor, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring work delivered across the electricity distribution network meets Aurora Energy’s safety, quality, and construction standards. Working closely with service delivery partners, Project Managers, and internal stakeholders, you’ll provide on-site assurance, identify risks early, and help lift performance through constructive engagement and continuous improvement initiatives.
The Role
Reporting to the Contract Relationship Manager, your focus will be on field-based auditing, quality assurance, and rapid response support across Central Otago. Key responsibilities include:
Undertaking on-site quality assurance and safety audits to assess contractor performance
Identifying and raising non-compliance issues, managing them through to completion
Supporting project managers with schedule adherence and project close-out requirements
Engaging with service delivery partners to address recurring quality issues and prevent rework
Providing practical, field-based feedback to support the ongoing improvement of design and construction standards
You’ll also provide rapid response support by attending sites to assess issues and proposing solutions, interfacing with Operations and Network Performance to facilitate urgent asset replacement and contributing to defect investigations when needed.
About You
Practical, detail-oriented and an effective communicator you will be able to maintain strong working relationships. Pro-active, pragmatic, and safety conscious, and you’ll enjoy being field based and highly visible.
With deep electricity distribution knowledge, you will bring:
Industry trade-based experience (e.g. Electrician, Line Mechanic, Cable Jointer or Power Technician)
Experience interpreting electrical drawings, designs, and construction standards
Sound knowledge of relevant electrical legislation and safety requirements
The ability to constructively question and hold others to account
Practical knowledge in hazard management controls
Experience in auditing, coaching, electrical inspection, or contractor management will also be highly regarded but is not essential.
