About the Role
Jasper Methods is seeking an experienced and trade-qualified Field Equipment Mechanic to maintain and repair our specialized fleet of well intervention equipment, including Coiled Tubing Units, High-Pressure Pump Units, Nitrogen Units, and associated heavy vehicles.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring all equipment is operating at peak performance and meets stringent safety and regulatory standards. This role requires flexibility, strong diagnostic skills, and a commitment to proactive maintenance to support 24/7 field operations.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Repair: Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPMs), scheduled services, and breakdown repairs on hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems for all well service units.
Specialized Equipment: Focus on maintaining the critical components of CTUs (injectors, reel drives, control cabins), high-pressure pumps (fluid ends, power ends), and associated diesel engines (Caterpillar, Cummins, etc.).
Diagnostics: Utilize specialized diagnostic tools and equipment to identify complex mechanical and electrical faults efficiently in the field or workshop environment.
Documentation: Accurately complete service reports, defect notices, parts ordering, and update maintenance history records in the company's asset management system.
Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with OEM specifications, Australian Standards, and company HSE policies.
Field Support: Travel to remote site locations (FIFO) to provide breakdown assistance, critical repairs, and commissioning support as required by the operational schedule.
Inventory Control: Manage and maintain workshop tools, critical spare parts inventory, and consumable supplies.
What You Bring (Essential Criteria)
Safety: A strong safety record and understanding of safe work practices.
Qualifications: Trade Certificate as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, Diesel Fitter, or equivalent qualification recognized in Australia.
Technical Skills: Proven expertise in diagnosing and repairing heavy vehicle diesel engines, automatic/manual transmissions, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
Electrical Knowledge: Basic to intermediate skills in reading electrical schematics and troubleshooting 12V/24V electrical systems.
Experience: Minimum of 4+ years post-apprenticeship experience, ideally within the Oil & Gas, Mining, or Heavy Transport/Plant sectors.
Licensing: Valid Australian Driver’s License (HR class or higher is highly advantageous).
Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours and participate in an on-call rotation or FIFO roster to support remote operations.
Eligibility: Permanent right to work in Australia.
