Job Description
Position Purpose:
The survey field service technician collects field data utilizing common surveying equipment.
Essential Functions:
• Set up, adjust, and operate surveying equipment and instruments to collect field data, reporting data back to surveyors and other Wightman professionals
• Measure, record, and calculate data based on instrument readings
• Layout, locate and recover markings, stakes, and other such signifiers at work locations
• Help create drawings and computer images of job locations
• Maintain equipment and vehicles
• Assist in conducting surveys to determine location of natural features and man-made structures on the surface, underground or underwater
• Collect information needed to carry out new surveys using source maps, previous survey data, photographs, computer records and other relevant information
• Perform manual labor such as bending, digging with a hand shovel, cutting brush for lines, carrying equipment, stakes, rebar and other items that may be
