Position Summary:
The Senior Software Engineer designs, develops, tests, deploys, maintains, and improves software for end users, with a strong focus on technical leadership. They deliver software using agile methodologies to meet the demands of the business. The Sr. Engineer builds complex features independently and collaborates with other teams to conduct design and code reviews. They develop and/or provide technical leadership in the development of software applications involving the application of new technologies with significant technical risk. The Sr. Engineer prepares detailed plans, which may span over a year for complex projects. They determine test philosophy, goals, and objectives, and participate in the formation of project goals, scope, and schedule. The Sr. Engineer makes a high impact on the success of their team and works through complex problems and tradeoffs with only minor assistance. They mentor other engineers throughout the organisation.
This role is based in the Brisbane CBD, and can be hybrid or remote, depending on preference.
Essential Responsibilities (includes, but is not limited to):
Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software.
Participate in team meetings including refinement sessions, sprint planning, and other aspects of the agile development lifecycle.
Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and test suites to validate software functionality, performance, and scalability.
Help level up the team through mentorship and design techniques.
Participate in on-call rotations.
Ideal Skills, Experience, and Competencies:
At least five (5) to eight (8) years of relevant software development experience.
Effective technical leadership abilities.
Advanced experience with one or more of the following languages: Java, Kotlin, and/or VueJS.
Proficient in utilising AI tools for software development, including the ability to construct effective prompts and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs - OpenAI and/or Copilot
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience with innovative application design and implementation.
Effective problem solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Ability to step up to address difficult issues, saying what needs to be said.
Ability to develop people to meet both their career goals and the organisation’s goals.
Ability to operate effectively, even when things are not certain, or the way forward is not clear.

Aligning with all OH&S policies and service escalation procedures
Completion of gas turbine overhaul activities to OEM Standards
Support major outages on alternate fleets, including steam turbine, as required
Assistance in tendering for service contracts or new plant contracts
What You Bring
A qualification as a Mechanical Fitter or Engineer
Extensive experience on major overhauls of large Gas Turbines is an essential requirement for this role
Ability to work autonomously and take responsibility and ownership
Proven leadership skills with the ability to coordinate and lead multidisciplinary teams
Availability to work on projects throughout Australia for extended periods, which can include night-shifts
Full working rights in Australia
