Field Technician - Arboriculture & Reforestation

Overview

We are hiring a student/recent graduate field technician to assist with seasonal work related to tree planting, tree care, and field-based site maintenance. The position involves a combination of physical labour, data collection, and hands-on support for both arboriculture and reforestation projects.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with planting and layout of seedlings on forest restoration sites

Conduct site prep and post-planting work including brush handling, weeding, and watering

Support field data collection (e.g., seedling survival, soil and site conditions)

Assist with tree health inspections, pruning prep, removal groundwork, and arborist reports

Operate hand tools and maintain a clean and safe work site

Ad hoc tasks, as required

Qualifications:

Current student or recent graduate in a relevant field (e.g., forestry, arboriculture, environmental science), preferred

Able to lift 50 lbs and perform manual labour in outdoor conditions

Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working independently or with a crew

Steel-toed boots and weather-appropriate outdoor and safety gear required

Chainsaw or equipment experience is an asset

Valid driver’s license
