Job Description
The Field Technician will provide support for de-watering and site maintenance on a rotational schedule. This position will involve physical labour and being comfortable working outdoors is an asset. They will also assist the technical staff with environmental and resource management work when required. They will have the opportunities to advance their career and skills through training and networking.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Pump system maintenance and observations.
Lifting, moving, and unloading equipment.
Complete safety and job-related paperwork as required.
Coordinate and assist with various water quality checks and system maintenance.
Collect, compile, analyze, and manage data, including but not limited to biological, chemical, and geographic data.
Comply with all Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements while working in the office and the field including requirements specific to mining sites and the WFN.
Report policy breaches to the supervisor or Director as soon as possible.
Maintain field and office equipment in working order, correct or report defects or unsafe conditions.
Maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information or speaking with unauthorized person
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE
A minimum of a 2-year diploma in Environmental Monitoring, Water/Wastewater/ Civil/ Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.
Experience working in water sampling, treatment, or management.
A team player committed to working in a respectful environment.
Ability to work independently.
NORCAT Training is considered a strong asset.
WHMIS and First Aid training is considered a strong asset.
A valid Class G Driver’s License is required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is primarily performed in the outdoor environment, in combination with a regular office environment.
Work is performed in all and often extreme weather conditions and is performed in remote areas near wildlife.
Is required to work flexible hours or shift work.
Overnight travel may be required (equipment malfunction)
Duration: May 26th - Aug 7th (possibility of extension)
