Finance Analyst
Full job description
At MediaWorks, our revenue comes from a diverse range of channels — as MediaWorks Finance Analyst you have the opportunity to be right in the thick of it, supporting one of the most dynamic parts of our business.
We're looking for a smart, proactive Finance Analyst to take ownership of our Direct Revenue channel — the spots we sell across our radio, outdoor, and digital platforms, sold directly to our customers by our in-house sales teams.
The opportunity:
You'll be the go-to finance partner for the General Managers across our 23 markets nationwide — so strong relationship skills, attention to detail, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities will be key.
Day to day, you'll report into and support the Senior Finance Business Partner, reporting on revenue performance as it happens, managing month-end processes, calculating commissions and payroll costs, and ensuring P&Ls are accurate and insightful.
You'll deliver dashboards and monthly results presentations to the General Managers, offering recommendations to help drive their market's success. When it's time to build forecasts and budgets, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring these are future-focused, commercial, and achievable.
Key responsibilities:
Support decision-making, operational performance, and financial planning alongside the Senior Business Partner.
Drive market profitability by identifying revenue opportunities and cost efficiencies. Own the budgeting and forecasting processes for your Direct Markets. Review and approve payroll costs, business expenses, and discretionary spend including calculate monthly commission payments and quarterly KPIs. Lead month-end and year-end processes for your markets, ensuring timely, accurate reporting.
Support business case development through financial modelling and analysis.
What you'll bring:
A tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. CA qualified with 2+ years' experience in a finance role with strong technical accounting skills with excellent analytical abilities.
Experience working with financial systems (NetSuite, SAP, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
Exposure to reporting tools such as Tableau or NSPB would be a bonus. Outstanding communication skills, with confidence presenting financial insights to non-financial stakeholders. Strong commercial acumen and the ability to spot risks and opportunities.
A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a balance of curiosity, courage, and collaboration.
What You'll Get:
Supportive leadership and a team that sets you up for success
A creative, collaborative, and innovative work environment
The chance to make a tangible impact on NZ's most-loved media brands
Health and wellbeing support with our free wellness platform
Fluffy Fridays - bring your dog to work! Woof!
