Job Description
Chapman Tripp’s Wellington Finance Practice is looking for an additional Senior Solicitor or Senior Associate to join its high-performing team. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience or an interest in infrastructure funding and financing.
We are a three-partner team, so can offer you the opportunity to act for a wide range of high-profile clients – including banks and funds, developers, corporate borrowers, local authorities and key public sector entities. We are working on some exciting infrastructure projects, including public private partnerships and in the energy sector and are particularly keen to speak with candidates who have infrastructure experience, including procurement, contracting or financing.
The work in our team covers the full spectrum of transactional and advisory issues, including project/construction finance, acquisition finance and infrastructure funding. For example, our team has advised:
on the development and project financing of renewable energy projects
Councils on the Infrastructure Funding and Financing Act
Christchurch Airport and Wellington Airport on their recent bond offers
Morrison on sell downs of PPP transactions
clients in the energy sector on significant projects for Aotearoa
We are now looking for an experienced lawyer to join our team.
As the successful candidate, you will work directly with some of New Zealand's leading infrastructure and finance lawyers. You will also have the opportunity to learn from the wider Chapman Tripp team – including M&A, Energy, Construction and Resource Management. Chapman Tripp has been named NZ Firm of the Year at the 2024 IFLR Asia-Pacific and KangaNews awards, so you will be working with high performing individuals on satisfying work.
We encourage all our lawyers to engage directly with clients, so you will be managing files and building your own client relationships.
Relevant skills and experience required:
4 years + PQE
Strong academic record
Commercially astute and client focused
Genuine interest in the commercial world, in particular infrastructure projects
Excellent communication skills
Analytical and solution oriented
Experience advising on finance law issues
