The Pension and Endowments Department (PEN) is responsible for the financial management and administration of the World Bank Group's funded benefit plans, including the retirement scheme - the Staff Retirement Plan, the retiree medical and life insurance programs - the Retired Staff Benefits Plan, and other ancillary benefits. The financial management includes asset management responsibilities and actuarial support. PEN manages about $37 billion US dollars invested across a range of asset classes, from fixed income to public equities to private equity, real assets, absolute return and credit strategies. The Pension Finance Committee, appointed by the Bank Group President and chaired by the Chief Financial Officer, has oversight responsibility for the financial management of the plans. PEN's responsibilities also include the delivery of technical assistance on multi- asset class investment management to pension plans, endowments and funds for the future, and the management of the Pension Administration function. PEN identifies, selects, evaluates, and monitors investments, through outside managers, globally.
The Pension Middle Office team (PENMO) under PEN is responsible for providing a full range of functions supporting these investment activities, including the following: i) pension plan operational activities, ii) pension plans financial statements, iii) pension investment performance and attribution, iv) asset class exposure monitoring, v) all investment asset pricing and valuation, and vi) third-party clients' reporting.

Duties and Accountabilities:
The primary responsibilities will include, but is not limited to, some combination of the following activities:
Taxes:
• Proactively gather/ summarize and report taxes related information from internal and custodial reports.
• Actively reach out to headquarters team, front office and/or investment managers to track the deductions and initiate the tax reclaims;
• Ensure tracking of all follow-ups with investment managers;
• Monitoring taxes, refund process and status including ageing of receivables.
• Detect and highlight issues/delays by jurisdiction to the team;
Operations:
• Track compliance reporting of managers of public and private investments of the Plans and submit reports within agreed upon deadlines;
• Support automation initiatives and efficiencies relating to operational areas including maintenance of databases, dashboards and reports;
• Responsible for resolving and/or escalating daily operational issues with custodians, internal and external parties; and
• Helping to ensure that all business processes in the unit are properly documented and complied with.
Selection Criteria
• Master's degree in Business Administration/Professional qualification such as CA, CPA, CFA with minimum of 2 years of experience or Bachelor's degree with minimum of 4 years of relevant experience;
• Knowledge of Python/Power-BI/Tableau with experience in projects will be an added advantage. Proven experience in analytics including demonstrated ability to conduct data analysis, data mining and report generation;
• Record of accomplishment in managing client relationships between the front and Back/middle offices and the trade cycle between external custodians, investment managers and trading counterparties.
• Knowledge of accounting and finance principals and procedures, and a thorough understanding of financial markets and instruments; tax experience a plus.
• Strong quality control and attention to details;
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills and strong proficiency in Excel. Knowledge of excel macros will be an added advantage;
• Strong oral and written skills in English, ability to translate complex data for a variety of audiences and experience preparing client ready material;
• Flexibility and ability to work in fast-paced environment with shifting work priorities and demands and tight deadlines;
• Ability to work in unsupervised and/or remote environment, self-starter and proven track record of adhering to timelines;
• High level of integrity, tact and discretion when managing sensitive and confidential information (may be required to sign an NDA (non-disclosure agreement) for the assignment period.
