Job Description
Location: Port Augusta, South Australia.
Status: Part Time (0.8 FTE) working 30.4 hours per week until 30 June 2026 then 22.8 (0.6 FTE) hours per week (days negotiable).
Annual Salary: from $61,097 to $65,524 per annum plus superannuation (until 30 June 2026) and $45,823 to $49,153 per annum plus superannuation (from 1 July 2026) based on part time hours
About the Position
The Financial Capability Worker delivers financial literacy education, support and advocacy to individuals, families and groups experiencing financial difficulty.
As a Financial Capability Worker, you will:
Provide information and money management skills to help clients make better financial decisions and build financial resilience.
Deliver financial literacy information, education and support to clients.
Provide ongoing budgeting and savings support to clients.
Assist clients in assessing utility or telco hardship programs, government concessions and accessing services
Provide clients with information about financial rights.
Refer clients to financial counselling or other community services.
Maintain and complete statistical data.

About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
Completed or willing to work towards completing the Financial Literacy Education modules:
o CHCEDU005: Work with clients to identify financial literacy education needs
o CHCEDU006: Improve clients' fundamental financial literacy skills
o CHCEDU007: Provide group education on consumer credit and debt
Experience in assisting families and individuals in the resolution of financial issues at various levels including crisis intervention.
Demonstrated knowledge of the impact and issues related to financial crisis and associated behaviours in rural and remote locations.
An awareness of relevant legislation.
An awareness of hardship provisions and how to negotiate accessing them with clients.
An understanding of case plans and facilitating a positive approach in working with families, individuals and groups to achieve these goals.

Experience in working in a highly confidential manner.
A commitment to providing financial literacy and community education.
Demonstrated ability to identify an issue and seek creative solutions.
Effective communication skills (verbal and written), interpersonal skills and time management skills.
High level of ability in the use of Microsoft Office and Information Technology.
Ability to work collaboratively with other members of the financial wellbeing and capability program and regional staff.
Requirements of the role:
Hold (or willingness to obtain) a current DHS Working With Children Check *
Hold (or a willingness to obtain) a National Criminal History Record Check (Police Check) *
Hold a current South Australian Driver’s License (minimum Provisional License)
