Full job description
Join the growing team at TFE Hotels as our Financial Controller – New Zealand
With an increased footprint in New Zealand, we are looking for an experienced financially savvy and qualified Financial Controller to work with our hotels and stakeholders in delivering on strategy, planning, analysis and the execution of the financial performance of our expanding portfolio.
Based in Auckland, and reporting to the Global Director, Finance Operations in Australia with a dotted reporting line to the Director of Operations – NZ, this role requires an experienced financial specialist who has successfully worked across multiple countries.

Which brings us to you
You are a mover and shaker in the world of numbers and compliance - you are a stickler in ensuring everything checks out, every single time! Strategy, planning, analysing, execution... it’s a numbers conundrum and you love it, nearly as much as you love encouraging, educating, and supporting your regional portfolio.
Proactive and hands-on, you plan and deliver - providing systematic (and ad hoc) analysis to drive business performance and better business decisions. Financial expertise and supportive team engagement - there is nothing you can't turn your hand to bring the numbers to life (and keep them in line!)
Without a doubt you are a risk mitigator – safely and expertly guiding the region to efficient and effective decisions and help mitigate risks (you replace the possible ‘owwws’ with ‘WOWs’!).

Key responsibilities include:
Governance over budgets and forecasts such as:
pre-opening budgets (P&L, Cash Flow & Capex)
annual budgets (P&L, Cash Flow & Capex)
forecasts in the 4+8 and 8+4 official forecasting cycles (P&L, Cash Flow & Capex)
Contribute to key business positioning – from strategic plans to owner engagement.
Grow financial leadership capability to enrich hotel operational understanding.
Undertake everyday financial business interactions, from performing ad-hoc analysis to support decision making of revenue generation, cost saving and capital expenditure.
Ensuring all balance sheet reconciliations, capex, financial reports are completed and reviewed in a timely manner.
More about you:
10+ years’ experience in a similar role from a hotel or finance industry
Tertiary Accounting/Finance qualification and relevant post graduate professional qualifications (e.g. CA, CPA, CFA, or MBA).
Sound understanding/experience of the hospitality industry especially accounting issues and body corporates.
Strong working knowledge and practical skills in accounting and finance.
Relevant experience in a senior management accounting role, with proven aptitude for the analytical and communication skills necessary to perform at the level of a Director of Finance.
Excellent practical management accounting expertise, including strong analytical, planning and reporting skills.
Demonstrated drive to succeed and accomplish results.
You are meticulous when it comes to attention to detail, strategically querying results and thrive on setting stretch goals and financial results
Ability to travel locally between hotels and nationally as required.
Full time permanent working rights for New Zealand (essential)
