Job Summary

The Financial Officer assists the Chief Financial Officer in providing leadership and administering all financial functions of the County. The Financial Officer coordinates preparation of the annual audit and budget documents, prepares annual and interim financial reports and analysis, and maintains the general ledger in the County financial system.
Examples of Duties
Coordinates the annual audit and single audit between County staff and independent auditors and assists with preparation of the County's comprehensive annual financial report.
Coordinates and maintains County's financial recordkeeping system.
Assists the CFO and County Administration in developing, coordinating, and monitoring the annual operating budget.
Coordinates the financial records and reporting for the Rice County Housing and Redevelopment Authority.
Assists the County Administrator and CFO in developing, updating, and monitoring countywide financial policies and procedures.
Maintains capital asset records and accounting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Performs accounts payable, cash and banking activities as backup.
Performs special projects and duties as requested.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, and six or more years of accounting experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the public sector, and/or CPA designation is preferred.
