Job Description
The Fire Sprinkler Helper is considered a trainee who is learning the mechanics of fire sprinkler system installation
The Fire Sprinkler Helper must be reliable, able to follow verbal work instructions/directions, able to follow through on assigned tasks, and exhibit the initiative to learn the skills of the trade
The ability to read labels, signage and directions along with basic math computation skills are also required
Candidates should have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record in case required to drive a company vehicle and reliable transportation
Learn, understand, and apply NFPA 13, 14, 20, and 24
Utilize time management skills
Lift up to 75 lbs above head
Stand for 8 hours
Ability to work in a variety of environments, such as temperatures over 100 degrees, cold temperatures, confined spaces, etc
Wear appropriate safety equipment as required, including hats and shoes
Daily submission of required paperwork requested
The ability to learn and read blueprints
Training And Certification Requirements
Valid Driver’s License
No experience required
The following certifications are required within 36 months from date of hire:
Basic knowledge of fire pumps, wet systems, Pre-action systems, and dry systems
Responsibilities
Assists the Foreman and Superintendent including, but not limited to, the installation or renovation of water based fire sprinkler systems
Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Must be able to work alternative shifts or weekends to meet customer and/or job requirements
Must perform all duties in a safe and professional manner
This position may be responsible for site clean-up, unloading, staging, and distributing work material to other employees at a job site
Position will also cut, groove, and thread pipe
The Fire Sprinkler Helper may install and test fire sprinkler systems under the close guidance of a Fire Sprinkler Fitter
The helper receives guidance and direction regarding day to day work tasks from a Fire Sprinkler Fitter/Forman
Participate in training classes to grow professionally and increase one's knowledge of the industry
Learn to use and Safely operate construction equipment including, but not limited to, step ladders, extension ladders, scissor lifts, hand tools, power tools, cutting tools, powder actuated tools
Learn and apply DynaFire mission statement and Core Values
Follow DynaFire's safety procedures in addition to the client's safety program
Comply with all DynaFire policies and procedures
Work alternate shifts or weekends to meet customer installation requirements
