Job Title: Floral Designer/ Operations Lead– Young Flowers
Location: 1907 4th Ave, Seattle, WA 98101Reports to: Owner
Employment Type: Full-Time including some weekend days (occasional and seasonal overtime required)
Position Overview
Young Flowers is a small boutique floral shop in downtown Seattle. The Operations Lead supports the owner by helping run day-to-day shop operations with a highly hands-on approach. This role follows the “order-to-delivery” flow: early morning flower buying, inventory and cooler organization, order coordination, designing arrangements, packing and quality control, customer service, social media and local deliveries using the company van.
This is a fast-moving role for someone who thrives on structure, takes initiative, and can switch gears between logistics, shop tasks, and customer needs, all while maintaining warm and welcoming in person customer service.
Key ResponsibilitiesDaily Shop Operations
Complete opening and closing procedures
Manage daily order flow from receipt through fulfillment
Coordinate workflow across floral prep, retail sales, design, and deliveries
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming retail and work space
Pitch in with floral prep, packing, sweeping, and all in-shop cleaning and stocking duties
Maintain and update the current floral retail price list
Purchasing, Inventory & Product Care
Purchase fresh flowers, plants, and shop supplies from local wholesalers (early mornings required) when required
Receive, check in, and properly store fresh floral product
Organize cooler and maintain proper product rotation (FIFO)
Monitor inventory levels and minimize waste through smart buying and rotation
Communicate product availability/substitutions clearly to the owner, team and customer
Deliveries & Logistics
Drive local deliveries in the the company van
Load, secure, and transport floral arrangements safely
Plan efficient delivery routes and timelines
Ensure delivery accuracy (cards, addresses, instructions) and resolve issues quickly
Customer Experience & Order Support
Provide warm, professional customer service in-store, online, and by phone
Answer questions, take orders, and assist with special requests
Resolve delivery or order issues promptly and professionally
Perform quality checks to ensure all arrangements meet shop standards before leaving the shop
Systems & Administrative Support
Operate POS and order management systems
Assist the owner with organization, holiday planning, display, and shop readiness
Support seasonal holiday demand, including long days and multiple consecutive workdays during peak weeks (Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving, month of December)
Social Media
Support basic social media needs such as posting shop updates, highlighting daily arrangements, or sharing seasonal promotions (scope may vary based on team needs)
Qualifications
4+ years of experience in retail, hospitality, or small business operations (2 years retail floral experience required)
Experience working with perishable inventory
Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to multitask in a busy environment
Friendly, dependable, detail-oriented, and calm under pressure
Comfortable working independently and making quick, practical decisions
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Comfortable driving a company van in downtown Seattle and beyond
Flexible availability, including weekends and floral holidays
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
Comfortable working in coolers and handling fresh floral product
Ability to perform repetitive motions such as prepping stems, packing, and cleaning
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation:
TBD, DOE
