Flush Truck Operator
Reporting to the Foreman or Lead, the Flush Truck Operator is responsible for operating a flush truck and will perform duties as assigned to ensure that completed work is delivered according to Volker Stevin Contracting Ltd.
s company policies and procedures, Alberta Occupational Health and Safety, and contract specifications. This position utilizes a flush truck in the cleaning of various sewer lines, including the investigation of assets and the maintenance and repair of water, storm, and sanitary sewer systems.
Equipment Operations :
• Record deficiencies and report them to the foreman and an appropriate maintenance team member.
• Operate a flush truck and other heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner while maintaining the unit’s cleanliness and keeping a daily logbook in compliance with the Commercial Motor Vehicle Act.
• Responsible for the safe and effective flushing of water, storm and sanitary pipes, and manholes.
• Assist the Inspection Unit with daily activities, not limited to setting up of equipment, cleaning equipment, cleaning manholes, and traffic control.
• Complete all required paperwork properly and in a timely manner.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections, as well as routine maintenance.
• Perform other construction related duties as required.
Technical Knowledge :
• Ground Disturbance Training Certificate is preferred.
• A Confined Space Training Certificate is required.
• Mechanical aptitude and multiple field tickets would be considered an asset.
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following :
Qualifications & Experience
• High School Diploma or is preferred.
• Class 3Q Driver’s License and a clean Driver’s Abstract (as per Company Policy).
• Preferred minimum 1 3 years of experience operating a Flush or Water Truck.
• Knowledge of industry standards, and OH&S requirements
