Additional Information: This hotel is owned and operated by an independent franchisee, Burloak Hospitality Limited. The franchisee is a separate company and a separate employer from Marriott International, Inc. The franchisee solely controls all aspects of the hotel’s employment policies and practices, including hiring, firing, discipline, staffing, compensation, benefits, and all other terms and conditions of employment. Opened in December 2018, the Courtyard by Marriott Burlington is looking for Food and Beverage Supervisor to join our team. The hotel features 135 guestrooms and suites with 1800 sq. ft of flexible meeting space, indoor salt-water pool, state-of-the-art fitness centre, and on-site Bistro Restaurant & Lounge.

Job Description:

Ensure that meals are being served in a professional and timely manner by circulating within the outlet and communicating with the kitchen and the order takers. Handle guest complaints. Monitor and supervise set up and maintenance of prep area to ensure that it is up to standard.

Connect with the dining client, establish connection/relation with new and repeat guests.

Provide reports on production and necessary requisitions. Assist in regulation of distribution of necessary supplies.

Provide direct service to guests, including, but not limited to, serving tables, bussing tables, seating guests and general clerical/cashier duties.

Assist with preparation and serving in the Bistro and Events/Banquets.

Liaise with Executive/Sous Chef regarding Daily Dinner Specials.

Conduct Daily, Weekly and Monthly Inventory as required. Record all Inventories in the Inventory platform.

Provide supplies order list for purchasing.

Develops and implements strategies for the F&B operations, marketing and sales that support achievement of the hotel’s goals

Maximizes profitability by supervising Food & Beverage operations, ensure orders are punched in properly.

Analyzes business results on a regular basis and takes actions to improve results as appropriate

Leverages system-wide expertise and resources where possible in order to incorporate best practices and deliver services on a cost-effective basis

Determines appropriate staffing levels for forecasted business and schedules employees accordingly

Ensures department adheres to all health, hygiene and safety policies

Develops and implements strategies and practices which support employee engagement.

Assists in recruiting, selecting and training associates

Provides employees with the orientation and training needed to understand expectations and perform job responsibilities

Communicates performance expectations and provides employees with on-going feedback

Seeks opportunities to improve the customer experience by seeking customer feedback and reviewing reports and developing strategies to improve department and hotel services

Follow all safety and security procedures and regulations while performing daily duties

Follow departmental policies and procedures and service standards

Follow the policies and procedures and all brand standards as outlined by Marriott

Deal with guest requests in a courteous, prompt, and professional manner. Approve Voids where needed to retain service standards.

Attend scheduled staff meetings, training, and orientation sessions

Maintain standards of punctuality, uniform and personal hygiene as required by Hotel policy

Required Skills

Prior supervisory experience with Starbucks, Micros, Banquets, Catering and Hotel Restaurant Operations is strongly preferred

Food & Beverage: 4 years (required) and Supervising: 2 years (required)

Inventory management

Flexible schedule including morning, evenings, weekends and holidays required

Smart Serve certified required / Food Handler certificate an asset

Must speak fluent English; additional language skills preferred but not required

Self-starting personality with an even disposition and able to work with minimum supervision

Interpersonal and time management skills

Must be legally permitted to work in Canada
