Proteus Sports Group is a leading coaching provider offering high-quality football and multi-sport sessions to children and young people. We work with schools and club teams across Christchurch to deliver fun, engaging, and development-focused coaching sessions. As the winter football season approaches, we are looking for motivated university students who are passionate about coaching and want to gain valuable experience working with young players in a professional coaching environment.
Role Overview
This is a fantastic opportunity for university students who are studying sports coaching, physical education, or a related field and are looking for seasonal coaching work during the winter football season. You will be coaching school teams and club teams across Christchurch, delivering structured football sessions that help develop players’ skills, confidence, and love for the game.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver structured and engaging football coaching sessions to school and club teams.
Plan and adapt sessions to suit different age groups and ability levels.
Create a fun, safe, and positive learning environment for young players.
Work alongside other coaches and club representatives to ensure effective session delivery.
Provide encouragement and constructive feedback to help players improve.
Ensure safeguarding, health & safety, and coaching best practices are followed at all times.
Represent Proteus Sports Group professionally at all sessions.
Requirements
Passion for football and youth development.
Some coaching experience (formal or informal) is beneficial but not essential.
Working towards or holding a coaching qualification (e.g., NZF Junior Level 1 or equivalent) is preferred.
Studying a relevant university course (e.g., Sport & Recreation, Physical Education, Coaching).
Strong communication and leadership skills.
Reliable and committed to attending scheduled sessions.
Valid Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
Reliable transport to travel to coaching locations is desirable but not essential.
