Job Description
We are rare amongst banks in that our senior leadership team includes backgrounds at world-leading fintechs, which shows in their active engagement with our cross-functional Product Squads, and in our bank-wide adoption of modern tools & techniques such as Scrum/Kanban and Jira.
We are working on one of the last untapped fintech opportunities, which is banking to established small & medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). These established SMEs are the backbone of local communities - representing about a quarter of the economy - yet have been largely left behind both by traditional banks and modern fintech providers. Because we're breaking new ground, it often means that we're working on new technological challenges. We are building in-house banking products using modern technologies.
Purpose of Role
As a senior frontend developer, you will have a specialisation in Web technology. You will be expected to support feature development and mentor junior developers using constructive feedback. You will help define how we use frontend applications to drive our banking products. You will share your passion and experience with others and encourage a sharing and caring culture as well as supporting less experienced teammates to grow and develop.
Your remit will go beyond projects as the wider engineering community will look to you for coaching and advice. You will be a strong influence on others and your success will largely be based on that.
Principal Accountabilities
• Design, develop and deploy frontend applications.
• Collaboration with product owners, backend engineers and other stakeholders to facilitate the development of new features and applications.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement in your specialism and in your Community of Practice, leading by example.
• Help run your community of practice, encouraging broad participation.
• Mentor and support more junior colleagues e.g., through pair programming, Code reviews etc.
• Help more junior colleagues plan their careers and progress at Allica.
Required Skills
• Expert in JavaScript, Typescript, React + Hooks, Redux, Node.js, HTML5 and SASS/CSS.
• Experienced with Webpack, Babel, Jest, Cypress and React Testing Library. Knowledge of MobX and Nx will be beneficial.
• Knowledge of UX/UI design.
• Experienced with Docker and Kubernetes. AKS will be beneficial.
• Experienced with CI/CD and modern DevOps tools. Exposure to Azure DevOps Pipelines will be beneficial.
• Interested in scaling the applications using methodologies like Micro Frontends, Blue/Green Deployments.
• Prior experience using OpenID Connect Protocol.
